Training Completed!

OK, I have been trained on the technical aspects of running a show. Let's hope all of the information doesn't fall out of my head as soon as I am on my own and live on the air. I'm shooting for a Sunday evening show, but have to wait until the board approves it, so I'll keep you posted on that.

I do need to think of a cool name for my show, and I'm not sure I want to go as straightforward as "Geno's Radio". There are currently three other pages on Facebook related to Geno's, and even though my show is based on the calendar at the club, I'd still like it to be easier to differentiate between the club and the radio show. If you have any suggestions, please shoot me an email at, or post your idea on the wall here: Facebook Page!

Orientation under way!

Just got back from a group orientation with Marc Bartholomew from the Maine Radio Project! Got to meet the group of new folks starting shows, too, and it seems like there will be a nice variety on the air real soon! Time to really push those bands to get their music to me, so I can promote them on the show. When I'm ready - hopefully soon - I can set up a time to do my first show test with Marc on the air! I'm very excited!

Tuesday, May 3, 2011

I have finally received word that I can attend training with Marc Bartholomew for a show on the Maine Radio Project, which is a "free-form internet radio station, supporting the creative community of Portland, Maine, and beyond." Here is the official site: Maine Radio Project and here is the Facebook page: MRP's Facebook

There are several noteworthy shows that you can listen to via streaming internet radio, directly from the site, or through your iTunes. The most popular I've seen and heard so far are The Hessian Sessions w/ Angus & Salli and Monstah McNaasty. Be sure to check them out!

The name of my show is tentatively "Bent Radio", but I am going to mull it over while working on my first broadcast. I have an outline already made I just need to start gathering the music. The focus of my show will be the schedule of Geno's Rock Club, featuring music by bands that will be playing the following week, music they are influenced by, event announcements and special features! I can't wait to see if I can pull it off...

Should I wait?

Well, I was going to start this project in January, but I found out about an opportunity to do a show on the Maine Radio Project, so I postponed it. Now, after a couple of months of waiting to hear about when I can start, I'm thinking about just doing it on my own again. I am going to change the format a little, though. I'm not sure I want to dedicate the whole show to Geno's at this time. I will keep myself posted...

Naila and Isis trying to say my name is pretty hilarious...November 2009. This is just a test, but funny nonetheless.
